Up for Auction Today is probably one of the RAREST Vintage Snare Drums that we will ever have the honor of offering: a 1928 Ludwig & Ludwig Super-Ludwig Model No.231-CL in LUDWIGOLD with De Luxe (imitation gold) Plated Metal Fittings and Guards. While October 29, 1929 Marked the Official beginning of the Great Depression, formally referred to as Black Tuesday, can you imagine a drummer being able to plunk down the tidy sum of $60 for a snare drum? Adjusted for today using the unskilled labor wage index, that's the equivilent of approximately $2335. Comparatively, a loaf of bread back then was a mere 9 cents! This snare drum belongs in a the nicest of American Percussion Collections or perhaps a Percussion Museum. We will consider cash plus trades for this rarity.
