Description
Hallo,on sale one of my favourite analog synth of all times, and this is actually the most reluctant sale I ever listed on eBay...:-(A KORG PS-3100 Modular Analog Polyphonic Synthetizer. If you are watching this auction it means you already know what we are talking about so that I won't bother you with the specs list of this machine. Anyway, a quite good explication is findable at:http://www.vintagesynth.com/korg/ps3100.shtmlNow: this PS3100 works 100% well. Before the summer I changed the whole kit of rubber bushings, cleaned the keyboard contacts and checked the power supply, so that now the keyboardplays and feel really smoothly and the sound of the synth is clean, vivid and without buzzs or noises typical of a dirty machine. The pots haven't been cleaned because there was no need. The only thing that could need a cleaning in a future is the set of tuning small knobs, on the left of the panel: they all work and respond well, but sometimes it may happen that you could hearmicrotonal changes while you trim them: it's nothing serious, a simple contacts cleaning will bring the function back to a 100% operational state. I didn't fix it because I started noticing thatlong time after I had it serviced and, honestly, it never bothered me, as the whole set of tuning knobs actually works well and do its job even if needing a  cleaning.Every key, switch, pot and button of the synth work perfectly, as well as any jack inputs from the modular panel. I just tried different patches from the user manual in order tocheck every functionality of the machine, and I noticed no problems or malfunctions. The synth sounds wonderfully indeed. The case, as you can see from the pictures, has been painted in dark blue/black, but I just asked a wooden panels service laboratoire in my block and I've been told it is a paint which is easilyremovable, in case the winner wants to have it back in its original wooden colour. They said they could do the job safely and prevent to damage the underneath original paint, as it's beenrepainted with a thin layer of paint that hasn't been absorbed by the case. By the way, I always kept it this way because it didn't bother me but, just in case, the winner knows that repristinethe paint won't be a mess. The ex-owner of this synth adapted a very expensive KENTON MIDI interface card for the Korg PS3300 in order to be used in this machine, and the MIDI kit is already partially installed: the winner will get the whole Kenton Midi Kit together with the instructions from Kenton for the Korg PS3300 plus the additional instructions of the ex-owner (who was an english sound engineer) in order to finish the job and adapt the card to this PS3100: for instance, he readapted the MIDI kit in order to be installed with the less modification as possible, specially inside the machine. Also, he pre-installedthe kit using the two dyn-ports onboard (that are normally used to connect the old Korg pedals) to be used as midi in/through ports (see pics), rather than using the kenton black boxwhich would have meant needing more room inside the machine. The whole job is very professionally done and if the winner will intend to midify the synth, this kenton kit will come pretty useful;otherwise the winner will only unconnect the two cabled dyn ports from the inside to bring the synth to an original 100% state. Or, if he wants, he can install the midi kit following the originalKenton instructions. This PS3100 works @ 220v EU voltage or 110v US voltage (the switch selector is on the back of the machine).I really think it is a fantastic synthetizer which provides years of fun and good music to any musician who's into programming; you'll never get the same sound twice if you don't want to.Unfortunately I have to let it go due to personal expenses, but I rarely heard other synths sounding so interesting. The synth will be sold complete with a copy of the user manual, the complete MIDI kit from Kenton plus the two instructions booklets, the original Kenton one plus the one writtenby the ex- owner.I ship worldwide, buyer pays expenses. Please expect some xpensive shipping cost, due to the heavy weight of the machine!UPS ONLY, not other courriers will be considered, due to the value of the item.Shipping in EU will cost from about 75 euros to 180 euros.Shipping oversea please ask for quotes.Local pickup in Berlin's also welcome! Please feel free to ask any question you need to know.2nd hand item, no money back warranty can be offered.
