Description
4-octave Jenco celesta in excellent condition. Model 6M. Serial #6450119. C3-C7 range.I have seen more than 30 Jenco 3-octave celestas before, but NEVER a 4-octave Jenco celesta, and what a surprise to find one in such great condition. This celesta could be unique and one-of-a-kind, or from a small batch of a dozen or so (at most) made by Jenco. It plays really well (no out-of-tune nor stuck notes), and sounds absolutely gorgeous. This is one of those extremely rare instruments that I will regret selling later, but I need cash to pay next month’s credit card bill. Don’t expect this item to come up again, because I’d rather sell my microphones instead of letting this go for less. You can always buy more Schoeps microphones…but not a 4-octave Jenco celesta. You can hear the upper three octaves of portable Jenco celestas on Youtube videos, compared to which this celesta’s upper three octave sound relatively similar. But as for the lower octave, it sounds different than many brands of celesta: soft and incredibly sweet, but with enough attack to cut through a mix. Now THAT is something you won’t find on most celestas: a sweet lower end with a dynamic presence that can cut through a mix. Most celestas sound soft but dull in the lower end, with hardly any attack or presence, but this one sounds sweet yet defined in the playing of each note in both the low register and high register, making it a perfect instrument for recording or ensemble use.Dimensions: 38.5” H x 36 W” x 18” D (including wheels and handles)Weight: about 120 lbs (definitely not more than 140 lbs., definitely not less than 100 lbs.)It uses metal resonators instead of thick wooden ones. It has casters/wheels on the bottom, which work perfectly.Since this is a large transaction, I cannot accept Paypal. Cash, check, wire transfer, or money order only, and clearance time is required. Now for the best news, for those of you far away in the USA or Canada: I am willing to ship this FedEx Ground (amazingly, it meets their size and weight requirements) to the continental USA for a flat shipping & handling cost of only $190, and a cost of about 2x-3x more for Canada. This celesta will surely require that a special box be made for it, and will need to be professionally packed with the utmost care, which this fee will cover. For those of you elsewhere in the world: I am willing to ship internationally, but I would require 30 days for payment clearance (unless you sent a bank wire transfer), and I would also require that you arrange for your own shipping/freighting.
