Description
Up for Bid is this Limited Edition Holton H878 Double French Horn This design from Holton/Leblanc is virtually identical to their most popular Series of Double Horns. The sound quality of this instrument is lush and velvety as it utilizes the tonal characteristics of Brass and Nickel Silver in the body of the horn along with the superb quality created by the Rose Brass large throated bell. This sound is quickly becoming the standard for many of the top orchestras in the world. As you can see by the pictures, this horn created in 2004, is in near mint condition and Is just beautiful. As with nearly any used horn There are some very minor dings, but none that detract from the overall beauty and certainly nothing that interferes with its outstanding playing characteristics. It has recently been cleaned, oiled and greased and it is in top-notch condition. The valves are extremely quick and quiet with excellent compression and new strings. The horn is just incredible and ready to play! As for the performance of the horn, this instrument has a truly wonderful tone with incredible centering. The sound is crystal clear across its 4+ octave range and VERY resonant. You can even feel the horn vibrate as though approving of your notes. Soft delicate playing was easy, very articulate and had a velvety texture that made Mozart a dream to play. Loud playing produced an incredible ‘edge’ to the sound while maintaining the dark, rich characteristics of the instrument, which cut through the house, making it sound like a concert hall. I’ve played many horns over the years and must say that this horn is one of the finest. I could not believe how well it performed. There is nothing to indicate that this horn would fail any professional standards placed upon it. Add to that its beauty and uniqueness and you have an incredible find! You do not want to miss out on this instrument! This horn comes with MANY EXTRAS to help you dive right in, Including: *Original Case - Excellent Hard Plastic Shell with thick padding to fully protect your instrument. *Giardinelli C12 mouthpiece - Small bore design to aid in upper register playing and rounded rim for superb slurs. *Original Dealer Registration Card with Inspection tag. *The Double Horn Care, Maintenance and Minor Repair book by Leblanc - Including a wonderful section on tuning the double horn by renown horn player and designer; Philip Farkas. *F and Bb horn Fingering chart - It helps to know how to finger the notes. *Humes and Berg; Stone Lined Mute - a Standard amongst horn professionals. *Black Hand guard (installed) - to help protect the grip area from corrosion. *Quik Time Quartz Metronome (battery included) - you want to be in tempo don't you? *Leblanc Polishing Cloth - Keep your horn in excellent condition by wiping off corrosive oils from the skin. *Snake Brush - What good is a clean outside if the inside is full of gook. *Mouthpiece Brush - Again... gook. *Holton Valve Oil - Full bottle to keep those valves lightning fast. *Leblanc Slide Eze Slide Grease - Keep the slides free so you can tune would ya?! *What more could you need???..
