Description
Just in time for band camp! A gently used, slightly dented, mildly scuffed Single F Yamaha, YHE313, beginner French Horn, complete with a Holston Farkas Model Mouthpiece and a blue-velvet lined case, awaits you. If you’re looking at this listing you already know that it takes a special sort of person to decide, at the ripe old age of 10-14 or whenever it is that kids nowadays are beginning to learn musical instruments, to pass up those sexy clarinets, boisterous drums, cool trumpets and high-maintenance flutes in favor of the often overlooked, but critically important, French Horn. Yes, the potential for a sweet solo, the kind that will catch they eye of that be-braced, tip-frosted, moderately-acned hottie in the front row of your middle schoolwide bi-monthly band assembly is minimal, but, honestly, don’t you want to be loved for more than your superb fingering techniques and mouthwork? You’re parents certainly hope so and you, ten years from now, will probably also hope so. I played this instrument (not very well) from 1994-1998 and, for the last ten years, it has been sitting in my childhood closet. What a shame. What a shameful waste of an instrument. It did not bring me boyfriends but I suppose I can’t blame that entirely on the French Horn, which has a brand of sexy, I, an awkward, late-blooming non-Mormon girl with braces in Salt Lake City, did not yet know how to wield. You are probably different. Here’s the important part: With it’s light weight and simple configuration this single F horn is ideal for the beginning horn player. It’s yellow brass bell makes for a strong and rich sound and according to Weiner music: Leadpipe taper The taper of the leadpipe improves response and intonation throughout the instrument. Wrap The wrap of this model allows for a more comfortable hand position and smoother air flow. Nickel silver inner and outer slides The use of nickel silver inner and outer slides ensures better fit and less chance of corrosion because nickel-silver is harder and more durable than brass. Tapered valves Tapered valves wear for a long time without air leakage. I believe it. You want this French Horn. Admit it. It’s chicer, more sophisticated and more mysterious than those other obvious band instruments and now, in the post-rock era, all the indie-cool bands, like The Arcade Fire, are including French Horns in their orchestras. Furthermore, with the current, American renaissance of francophilia, you will be tre sexy with an instrument that has been, and will always be, French. So give it a good home and help get me through the soul-crushing poverty of graduate school while you’re at it. This same model sells new for about $2,000 and is selling used for about $750 dollars here: http://www.musicare.com/inventory.htm $795 here: http://www.dillonmusic.com/HeleoCart/ProductPage/205040.aspx So this is a pretty good deal, I think. *** Be sure to factor the price of postage into the final price!
