My father has asked me to help him sell off some of his vast collection of brass instruments. This is a 1960's Vintage Couesnon Flugelhorn in excellent original condition. According to my father he used this in his Jazz band and played lead on the horn. He said it sounds a great deal like his Mt. Vernon BACH but with a darker more JAZZ sound. The tone is quite beautiful and the scale is full.This horn is one of my father's personal favorites. Not only does the bell carry a focused Beautiful Dark Tone but each note blown from this Flugelhorn is as smooth as it is beautiful. For those who have never played a Couesnon Flugel the intonation is quite remarkable with the frequency of each note remaining smooth through its passage out the bell. No matter if you are bending or projecting the notes will have an even tone and carry the thrust of the true intent of the player. This horn has been kept in its original condition. The finish is the original French Dark Lacquer with original Nickel Plate. The Valves are quick and continue to have excellent compression.The Flugelhorn has had the valves aligned and all the pads have been replaced. It includes its original Hard case. According to him this would make a great horn for a lead in any Jazz, Big Band or Studio Work. According to the research I did on line this horn is a very much sort after model.
