Description
For sale is one of my "treasure" guitars; a 1962 slab board Fender Stratocaster. What makes this Strat so special is that the late Stevie Ray Vaughan played it on stage one night while performing in Austin Texas.  Well known guitar historian, Drew Berlin, from the "Guitar Center Vintage Room" in Hollywood California witnessed the show and so did Billy Gibbons from the band ZZ-Top.  That night at the show Stevie wrote across the front of the guitar "Play only the Glory Tones  King Size  Stevie Ray Vaughn" I also had a Stevie Ray Vaughan historian here in Las Vegas authenticate the handwriting and signature. This is extremely rare in that Stevie would typically not sign guitars much less write such a profound message. The letter of authenticity and appraisal from Guitar Center was written just BEFORE "Lenny" sold at auction for over 600k.  Obviously between the appreciation of vintage guitars since and the affiliation with SRV the guitar is worth well above this old appraisal. Drew told me that if anyone would like to contact him he would be happy to give them any additional info. He can be reached at the Hollywood Vintage Room 323-874-2302. Only call if you're a serious bidder. There are no photos. The only thing I might suggest is that with some research one should be able to find a picture somewhere on the internet.  As far as the guitar goes, it's an all original 3 tone sunburst, nice fat slab rosewood neck. Nut was replaced but the frets appear to be original and in great shape. Everything under the green gaurd is straight and it comes in its original rare factory export case. The switch was changed to a 5 way but the original 3 way comes with it; I thought of re-installing the original switch but I wanted to leave it as it was when Stevie played it. This Strat is oozing with mojo and plays and sounds as good as it looks. Often vintage Strats wear their battle scars in ugly fashion but this is the coolest looking Strat I've ever seen. WEIGHS ONLY 7 lbs 1 oz!  Its very hard not to play this Strat but I didnt want to wear off the Stevie vibe. This guitar has a certain presence about it. I've had it on display in my music club in Las Vegas in a climate controled air tite glass case and now that we're doing a total remodel I thought I would put it up for sale. I've placed what I believe to be a very reasonable reserve. Keep in mind a slab board 3 tone Strat sells for upwards of 25,000. Also included are the strings (not in the photo) that Stevie played on, the strap he wore, and the original tremolo bar. If you would like any further pictures or have any questions please email. Bidders with less than positive feedback must contact me first for bid acceptance. If the winning bidder is not fully satisfied with their purchase due to any misrepresentation they may return the guitar for a full refund less the shipping fees. The guitar must be returned in the same condition as shipped within five days of receipt; allowing plenty of time for inspection and approval. I will except paypal, bank wire, personal check, or bank check. Please email me with your shipping address for an accurate shipping quote. Winning bidder is welcome and encouraged to pick the guitar up in person if they so desire. I will arrange for pickup to and from the airport which is only 10 minutes away. Thank you and good luck!
