FENDER 66 JAZZ BASS REFIN GUITAR W GRUHN APPRAISAL Search DESCRIPTION:  SEND YOUR BEST OFFER shipping world wide or you can pick up for free in DOVER TN 90 MILES WEST OF NASHVILLE READ ON History Bought about thirty five years agoas is, used very sparingly. Had a 68 Jazz battle scarred road warrior so this pristine model was left at home The finish and headstock decal are post 1966, but this guitar appears to be all original otherwise with Fender Tolex OHC. Authentication THe neckplate SN is 137337 (1966), the pots are CTS, numbered 250K AUD 137 6611 (11th week of 66). There is no date stamp on the neck, but the pearloid dot inlays date the neck 1966 (oer earlier) since white block inlays replaced dots in late 1966 (see website Vintage Guitars Collector). Since Fender like all manufactturers, stockpiled parts, any transition period will reflect some inconsistency in dating their products, especially the Leo Fender/CBS transition period. I have for instance seen 67 Jazz besses with dot necks, but these are very likely NOS necks on new bodies. The oval tuners appear to be aone year issue only used in 1966. The "tail" on the case emblem dates the case 1967-1971, but Gruhn advised it is likely OHC, with the guitar when it probably sold in late 66 or early 67. ISSUES Neck date stamp, finish, headstock waterslide decal. But ...pearloid dots, acording to Vintage Guitar Collector, date the neck 1966, and the finish (and decal of course), according to Gruhn Guitar, was very likely done by Fender. There are a dozen or so nicks in (and through) the paint on the rear of the body. APPRAISAL The original appraisal from Gruhn Guitar comes with the sale. This guitar was appraised at $5000.00 to $5500.00 from Gruhn.
