Email: fineviolins@comcast.net This exquisite one-piece back 16" (406 mm) Stradivarius viola is made by Petko Stoinov, one of the finest luthiers in Europe. The instrument is carved from select European spruce and maple tone wood from the Balkans. The back and sides are crafted from special slab-cut maple wood that features incredibly beautiful flame pattern. Craftsmanship is flawless in every detail (see photos of the construction process below)! The viola is finished with a premium-quality pine-resin oil varnish skillfully brushed over a special coat of mineral ground following the method of David Rubio from England. Rubio has developed this advanced varnishing technique after many years of studying the genuine instruments of Stradivarius and Guarnerius. The finish renders a gorgeous warm golden-reddish color of stunning transparency and incredible optical depth. This viola sounds as impressive as it looks! The deep powerful tone reveals acoustic richness and maturity typically found in $12,000 - $13,000 modern Italian violas. Professional musicians will greatly appreciate this instrument! This fine viola comes equipped with beautiful hand-carved rosewood fittings. Strings are a combination of Larsen (for A), and Thomastic Dominant (for the rest).
