It is a 5.5" x 13" diameter drum with 8 hefty tube lugs on a Natural Satin finished Jarrah/Sheoak Block shell. The drum has no reinforcing rings or folds at the top or bottom of the shell. All of the lugs and the vent hole are isolated from the wood shell with neoprene gaskets. The drum has 2.3mm well chromed triple flanged hoops and Remo heads. Coated Ambassador with dot underneath and an Ambassador snare side head. Block drums have a different sound from a ply drum in that a block drum has a very quick decay and thicker tone. Sound engineers no longer need to use noise gates or heavy reverb to enhance natural tones. Different woods are used because of their different fundamental notes.
