Description
NOTE TO ALL BIDDERS I do my best to describe my auctions fully, but I sometimes miss something.  My descriptions include not only the written part of the description but also the photos.   Sometimes there is an obvious discrepancy between the written part of the description and the photos - PLEASE email me and bring it up so I can clarify the issue.  Sometimes the photos reveal something that wasn't mentioned in the written part of the description.  THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT I DID NOT DESCRIBE THIS CONDITION.   Please DO NOT BID if you haven't read my written write-up fully and have not looked at all photos thoroughly.  I will not accept returns for instruments for issues that are shown in the written and/or photo portions of the description.     Here is an older mouthpiece in outstanding condition.   Some scuffing due to use and ligature etc., but not nearly what you’d expect from such an old piece.  Shaft is marked with an 85 over a 1 on the front and with the Berg Larsen  name on the back.  Looks like a duckbill shape to me and has the bullet chamber.   Nice piece.  It came with a sax that was manufactured in 1938.                  Good luck with your bidding.  If you bid and win on more than one of my auctions, I will be happy to provide you with a combined shipping price, if warranted.   Please scan the various question headings (in red) below.  I try to clarify as many issues as possible ahead of time to avoid confusion.  Not only that, but I do my best to be clear on my policies.   Don't bid unless you are willing to agree with my reasonable policies.     Ask me some questions For quickest response, please use the EBay email forwarding system to ask questions.  I monitor questions rather closely through My EBay.  Not so closely through direct email due to constant scam attempts. Retract Your Bid If you made a bidding error and wish to retract the bid, please do not email me and ask me to correct your error for you.  I won't do it.  It is very easy to retract bids on your own through eBay. Here is the eBay site for such things. Retract Your Bid. I recommend having the item number handy prior to going to that site. Terms and Conditions Please read the paragraphs below to be clear on my reasonable policies and terms of auctions. I will abide by them whether you read them or not, and will consider your bid on this item as your agreement to my terms. That means that if you want me to deviate on my terms for refunds and returns and haven’t read or followed my policies as clearly outline in the link, then I will not make special accommodations. RESERVES If you would like to request my reserve price, don't email me, but please take a moment to read my thoughts on Reserves and Bidding first. RETURNS and REFUNDS I do guarantee that this item is in the condition as stated in the description. I aim to please and do my best to be flexible with winning bidders.  Please read my policy on Returns and Refunds first. If you find that my description is substantially inaccurate, I will, of course, refund your purchase price upon the item’s safe. I do require that you inform me of the deficiencies or your disappointments within 7 days of receiving the item. Please note that I rarely sell brand new items. This means that even if something is described as “minty” or “excellent” you may find upon inspection, tiny imperfections or evidence of use. I will not make full or partial refunds for minor insubstantial imperfections. If you insist on only buying items in factory new condition, you should purchase them directly from a licensed retail store.EXCEPTION:  For my foreign bidding friends...if you win my auction for $250 or less, it shall be considered an "AS-IS" auction.  This is not because I do not like overseas bidders, but because shipping prices for returning an item that cost less than $250 make it not worth it to the winning bidder.  Arrangements can be made ahead of time, of course, for the concerned bidder.  Please email me if you have a concern regarding this policy. FRAUD Please note that as wonderful as eBay is, occasionally someone registers who intends to defraud the seller or buyer. Some geographical locations are notorious for considerable fraudulent attempts. Although I prefer to make my auction items available throughout the world wihout restriction, I will not put myself at unnecessary risk. If I suspect that a bidder is acting in a suspicious or fraudulent manner I will take whatever actions I need to protect my interests. This may mean that I will cancel a bid and/or report the bidder to eBay. Please check out the following websites for helpful information on eBay fraud - 13 red flags for buyers first. 10 red flags for sellers. BUY IT NOW If I did not list this item as a Buy It Now through Ebay, then there is no Buy It Now price. If you email a seller asking for a Buy It Now price when they have not provided it through the listing you are violating the eBay terms of service that you agreed to when you registered.  Don’t ask me for a Buy It Now price and if you do, don’t be surprised when I post the question and my reply. 2nd Chance Offers Many sellers now announce they never make 2nd Chance Offers due to the constant scammer attempts pretending to make a 2nd chance offer. These are pathetic scam attempts and nobody should ever be fooled. To tell whether a 2nd chance offer is genuine or not, log in to My Ebay and check your messages.  If there is no 2nd chance offer notification it is a fake.    Forward such scam attempts to ebay at their email addres at spoof@ebay.com.   They will analyze it, tell you its a fake, and thank you.  Ebay is working hard to fight the scammers. SHIPPING - USA I will ship to any of the contiguous 48 US states for $4 including insurance. Shipping to other locations will depend on the destination. I do my best to find the most economical means of shipping. Shipping expenses are not limited to merely the cost of postage, but also includes modest amounts for packing materials and handling. When packing an item for shipping I am very careful to pack it the way I'd like to have my purchases packed. Generally, it takes great effort on the part of the carrier to damage items I have packed. Nothing is going to be loose and rattling around inside a package.  In the event that the automatic billing thru ebay lists a shipping price that conflicts with what is written here, I will NOT be held to an obvious clerical error.  I start these listings by taking an older listing and hitting the 'sell similar' button and adjusting as needed.  Works well, saves time, but sometimes the $2 shipping for a piece of nothing ends up where a higher shipping price belongs.   I won't be held captive by clerical errors of this nature.  If there is a conflict, point it out to me or ask. SHIPPING - Outside of USA When shipping outside the USA, I use the US Postal Service unless the buyer makes other special arrangements.   PLEASE DO NOT email me and ask how much to ship to your country.    I will ship to Canada for $6 and the rest of the world for $8.   This does NOT include insurance.  If you wish to have this item insured, it must be shipped via USPS International Priority Mail, which adds up to another $25 to ship and insure.  You can consult the auction above or please visit the USPS website using the estimated weight of 1 pound for this package.  The site does provide a number of options that can make you a bit dizzy.  To help, please ignore the on-line prices as I always acquire shipping in person to make sure I have handled everything correctly.    I normally ship airmail via International First Class, but can be persuaded to use another method. USPS SHIPPING RATES.  What if it is damaged in shipment? I have shipped out hundreds of musical instruments.  Usually all goes well.  I'm fussy about packing.   Sometimes, despite my best efforts something gets damaged.  If this happens to you, please let me know right away.  I insure every item of value I ship.    If there is a need to file a claim against the shipper, I will do my part to see it to a successful conclusion.  Shipping to foreign countries has SPECIAL considerations.  I use USPS to ship to foreign countries.  The amount of insurance acquired is sometimes limited and will not cover the purchase price.  In some cases, I am unable to acquire ANY insurance.  I will not accept responsibility for damages beyond what I have been unable to insure the instrument.   If this does not suit you, do NOT bid. What if it doesn’t arrive timely? I often use the USPS for small packages and will track the package or insure it or both. When an item is insured, the USPS requires your signature before delivering. If you aren’t there when they attempt delivery they will leave a salmon colored form behind to notify you. This form is important…. Don’t lose it. Sometimes, buyers have waited a long time for something to show up and then start demanding that I follow up with the Post Office, or they will initiate action through paypal. Often, the item is sitting at their post office waiting for them to claim it. But by then, they have already made the whole process unnecessarily complicated by dragging PayPal into it. If your package has not shown up timely CHECK WITH YOUR POST OFFICE BEFORE TAKING OTHER ACTION! This should save all of us some grief.   PAYPAL and other PAYMENT issuesI prefer payment via cashier’s check, postal money order, bank wire transfer, COD, and even personal check. Effective immediately I no longer accept Paypal. Paypal is convenient, but I am experiencing too much trouble with unscrupulous buyers lately.  Mostly it's folks who are exaggerating minor issues, and are 'dispute-happy.'  This has created a nightmare for me, so until Paypal becomes more friendly to sellers, I have discontinued this otherwise convenient service.    Exceptions - I WILL make exceptions.  But in order to be considered for an exception you have to be someone that has done business with me previously, have recent successful ebay auction activity, a sufficiently high feedback rating, and someone who is not prone to having real or imaginary hacks into their ebay and/or paypal account. IF YOU CHOOSE TO PAY VIA BANK WIRE TRANSFER...please check with your financial institution as to their fee schedule for bank-to-bank transfers, so as to ensure the entire amount due is transferred to my bank.  My bank does not charge my account to receive a wire transfer.  I will not ship your item until the entire payment amount is received.  Thank you for your understanding.  Buyers are responsible for use or sales taxes as determined by the local governing authority. I hate sounding like an attorney, but experience has taught me the importance of being clear and up front with the wonderful bidders from eBay. Thanks for taking the time to check this out.
