' Description   Normal 0 Here is a made in the USA Ampeg portabass amp.  I don’t believe that this is manufactured anymore.  Because of that, details are sketchy, but I’ll do my best to detail this unit via user reviews at harmonycentral.com: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Bass+Amp/product/Ampeg/PortaBass+228/10/1   This amp functions without issue.  Cosmetically, no problems with tears or smacks.  No tolex tears and with a metal grill, built to last (it IS a USA made Ampeg!).    Now, as a bass player, I’m not going to even try to tell you that this is a pure stage rig.  Two hundred watts and two 8” speakers is not going to be a pure solution for most any gig other than flat acoustic.  What this one does offer is a superb practice or recording amp with great channel/tone selection options.  The tone controls, dual channel, and line out variables make this a perfect amp for the right situation.   It’s light and functional.  Even for a job, a good soundman can make your presence huge with your presets.  This amp is priced out at a cost comparable to a foot pedal without any headphone-less output.   And now, the BONUS.  Included is an Ampeg PHB 100H speaker, also made in the USA.  The power rating is 200 Watts @ 4 ohms.  I bought this new two years ago and have maybe 10 hours of playing time on it.  Cosmetically, perfect.  I ran a two-hour session with an Ampeg B15n amp two days ago and no issues to report.  It looks to have a 10” speaker and a tweeter W/attunuator.  PLEASE   NOTE:  The porta bass amp does NOT have a speaker out.  The extra speaker is for those wishing to complete a Porta Bass head set up or just to have an extra bottom for their existing rig.
