It bears the mark "HVAR" which has been inscribed into the wood. The instrument also bears an intricate and ornately carved design along its shaft and wings, as well as a uniquely architectural mouthpiece surrounded by carved decoration. This is an estate item and the gentleman who previously owned it said that his grandfather had obtained it as a young man on a trip outside the country.
