Description
A very fine violin by Ernest Maucotel made in Paris 1922. The violin is labeled, dated and numbered 21. The instrument is also branded inside. The two piece back is of narrow flamed maple slanting upwards towards the centre seam, the front is of fine grained spruce. The back length is 35.6 cm. The bevels to scroll and also the corners of the ribs are outlined in black typical of the lutherie of this period. Scroll, corners beautifully crafted. Mint condition NO CRACKS OR REPAIRS. Branded and labeled "Maucotel et Deschamp, Paris" 1922 No 21. Comes with 1965 Emile Francais certificate, where it is stated that the instrument belonged to the concertmaster of the Strasbourg Symphony. Great concert violin with brilliant and powerful sound.
