Description
Hello fellow Lefties! Up for auction is a vintage 1974 Guild D35 Acoustic Guitar. This guitar was made in the U.S.A and carries Serial Number 100307. It is a sunburst model with tortoise shell pick guards and mahogany back & sides. The body is finished with a black binding. I purchased this guitar in 1999 and had it professionally converted for left-handed play. This work was done by a highly regarded local Luther who took the time to do it right. The converted bridge work is barely visible to the naked eye and the additional pick guard was cut and matched to the original - sans aging of course. With the symmetrical pick guards, this guitar takes on a real Everly Brothers feel to it.Physical Condition & Appearance - BodyAs would be expected from a 34 year-old guitar, there are some notable signs of wear and tear. Some of them are what makes this guitar so cool. The photos show all the major wear and tear and aside from what I mention here, the guitar is absolutely structurally sound. There is a smooth worn down area at the edge of the top pick guard - most likely occurring over the years from the previous right handed owner(s). Additionally there is an area below the bottom pick guard that has a series of small scratches. Most looking like they happened a long time ago. Finally, the back body has a few scuff marks and light scratches. Due to the dark color of the body, I had trouble accurately photographing the back without a large amount of glare showing up.NeckThe neck on this guitar is very straight and has a good action for a guitar of this age and especially for an older Guild. Mahogany neck with a beautiful rosewood fretboard. There is absolutely no neck wear at all. The frets are in perfect shape and have no pitting, scratches or dents.Sound & PlayI saved the best part for last and I wish that you could hear this guitar in addition to seeing the pictures of it. It has a very rich warm sound and is very loud. This was the sole reason I bought this guitar next to it's obvious good looks! Why Sell?I have recently gone electric and already have another acoustic guitar and mandolin. The truth is, I have not been playing this guitar as much as it deserves to be played and I hate to see it sitting around in it's case. Also, between amps and effects, I need to lighten my load a little.Pricing and other NotablesAs you can see this guitar is priced to sell from the generous buy it now price.
