1972 CONDE HERMANOS FLAMENCO GUITAR by Faustino Conde ! Description 1972 SOBRINOS DE DOMINGO ESTESO ( CONDE HERMANOS ) Primera "1A" Flamenco Guitar Handbuilt by Faustino Conde =========================================== Madrid : 1972 The world is about to hear a style of flamenco guitar so new & innovative that it will send the art of flamenco around the world in such a way never before experienced. The Artist : Paco de Lucia. The Guitar : Conde Hermanos: ( Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso ) built by Faustino Conde. ... Check out this vintage footage of Paco de Lucia playing his Vintage 'Faustino' Conde !!! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsZBzuU8jHw&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To09Km0y8ic&feature=related ... AMAZING !!! =================================== Not all flamenco guitars are 'equal'. Some are good, many are bad, & a few are Great ! This 1972 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso is definitely one of "The Great Ones" ! These are few & far between & obviously difficult to come by. I searched for many years & went through a lot of guitars, [ many of them Condes ; both old & new...], before I was finally rewarded with this wonderful "Faustino" Conde built in 1972. This is a "Museum Quality" Instrument ! ================================================ The guitars specifications are as follows: Master Grade German Spruce Soundboard Royal Spanish Cypress back & Sides Spanish Cedar Neck African Ebony Fingerboard Brazilian Rosewood Tuning Pegs Weight - 950 grams ( INCREDIBLY Lightweight ) - Under 2 lbs ! Scale Length - 665 mm. Nut Width -53 mm. String action is extrmely low !!! String height at bridge: 8 /32" @ treble 'e' string & 9/32" @ bass "E" string Distance from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the Bass "E" string - 3/32"; Treble "e" string- 2.5/32" WOW !!! Perfect for Flamenco playing style & Golpes ! ========================================================= Bidders: Please be aware that this instrument is a "Brown Label" Instrument. This label is applied only to the "Primera- Classe 1 " Instruments built by one of the 3 Conde brothers. This particular label bears Faustinos signature, rosette, & binding appointments. This rosette is identical to the rosette on Paco de Lucias 'Faustino' blanca that is depicted on Pacos first solo album- "La Fabulosa Guitarra de Paco de Lucia ". These "Brown Label" instruments are the most desirable & collectible of the vintage Condes. They are not to be confused with the more common 'White & Green' label 'Estudio' instruments that were inside the majority of the Condes that were built in a small 'factory' just outside Madrid in the town of Pozuelo. ================================================ This particular guitar was bought Brand New from Faustino Conde in the original shop of Domingo Esteso @ Gravina 7, Madrid. It migrated south to Granada with its owner where it was played lovingly until late 1979 when he brought it back to Faustino to trade in for one of Faustinos Negras; ( which had become quite "In Vogue" during the mid 70's to present day ). Faustino at that point redid the French Polish finish, refretted ( frets are still immaculate ! ) & repaired a loose back brace.; . ( As the saying goes : " The Condes build their Flamenco guitars for HORSEPOWER! ; not ornamentation ... " ) The guitar was then bought by an American player who owned it from 1980 until about 9 years ago when I bought the guitar from him. Both he & I played only at home & have taken great care of this wonderful instrument which is still in pretty much * Pristine * Condition ! The original hardshell case is of course included. ( Arrangements can be made to buy a newer & more 'Flightworthy' case to ship the guitar in if so desired by the winning bidder ) ===================================================== I always find it difficult to 'describe' a guitars sound with 'words'... The best I can say is that it's definitely what would be described as the "Old World" sound... Think of Paco de Lucias late 60's & early 70's recordings. Or check out the "Camaron; Live in Paris '87" DVD with Tomatito playing his 70's era Conde. THAT, is exactly the sound you will attain with this guitar. Short sustain, powerful & deep basses, & trebles that just 'beg' to be played HARDER !!! This guitar does not 'flatten out' when played aggressively, but rather THRIVES on good strong right hand technique. <<< FANTASTIC for Bulerias ! >>> OLE !!! You can actually 'feel' the bass notes pulse through the back of the guitar & into the pit of your stomach when this guitar is played HARD ! This '72 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso is a great piece of irreplacable Flamenco History ! You just cannot find guitars like this anymore... This guitar has 'been my right arm' & obvious favorite for the past 9 years., As you can imagine, it's not easy to part with; This a rare opportunity for someone to own a very rare guitar ! ========================================== *** BIDDERS PLEASE NOTE ! *** The Conde Hermanos Felipe shop in Madrid are now selling a limited edition version of this guitar. Here is the link to their site : www.condehermanos.com Once there, simply click on the "Reedition "Vda. y Sobrinos 1953" Cypress" link... Selling price is 14,337.00 Euros which is equal to $20,890.45 U.S. Dollars ! ...Why buy a 'Replica' when you can buy this "Original" Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso for much LESS $$$ ! ================================================================ With Francisco Barbas guitars "hovering around" $10,000.00, & Manuel Reyes Sr.'s guitars well over $20,000.00 these days, you can rest assured that this vintage Faustino Conde blanca is a "SOUND INVESTMENT "! ( Literally & figuratively speaking...) *** With the U.S. economy being in a bad state right now, this is the time to buy an investment grade instrument such as this; when prices are low... In a bit of time, when things pick up, this instrument is GUARANTEED to increase in value ...*** ======================================================== There is only one "Trade + Cash" scenario that I may entertain: I may be interested in a New, or * Mint Used* condition Conde A26 from the Felipe shop in Madrid. The guitar must be in excellent cosmetic & playing condition & it must have tradtional peg friction tuners; ( like this '72 ) The cash 'top up' would be $10,000.00 USD (negotiable...) 'If' you prefer to email me in a more 'discreet' manner about this scenario or any other questions you may have ; please feel free to contact me directly & privately at my personal email address. Just click on the email link below : elkabong@mts.net ============================================== I have been collecting fine guitars for over 30 years now. Both U.S. made Vintage electrics & acoustics & of course "High End" Spanish Flamenco guitars by all the great builders as well. Manuel Reyes, Conde Hermanos, Ramirez, Barba, Gerundino, etc... So please be assured & bid with Confidence ! ========================================================== Direct Bank Wire / Transfer is my preferred method of payment U.S. Bank Checks and / or "International' Postal Money Orders; ( payable in U.S. Dollars ) , will be accepted, but these 2 methods of payment will be subject to a 30 day clearing period. PAYPAL is Welcome ! Personal checks & COD's will not be accepted "0" or ( - ) Negative feedback bidders need not bid as I will cancel those bids. ( Unless the "0" bidder is an Ebay Newbie & contacts me 1st ) Please ask all questions before the auction end; not after ... =============================================== My "BUY IT NOW ! " Price is $15,995.00 However... please feel free to send me an offer to consider... ==================================================================== I SHIP WORLDWIDE ! ( Shipping costs will vary of course with the method of shipping requested: "Air", "Surface", insurance, etc... Final shipping costs will be determined at auction end ) Please feel free to check my 100 % Perfect Feedback ; ( 306 'Positives' ) here @ Ebay : ( Also please check my *Brand New* 2008 Sigurdson Negra Flamenco Guitar available here at Ebay right now ! ) Thank you & Good Luck !
