1969 vintage Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass 100% original Start Price USD 800.00 Current Price USD 1,225.00 Time Left - Bid Count 6 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, October 06, 2008 End Time Monday, October 13, 2008 Location Bel Air, MD See more about '1969 vintage Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass 100% original ' Description This is a 100% original Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass!   These are tough to date, but the pots date 'er to 1969.   Every last part of this bass is original.   To top that off, it's got a super rare black neck- not a re-fin at all!   Hofner churned out a few w/ black or creme necks back in the day.   I've only heard of one other black one from this year in existence.   Maybe this is only one of two?  Who knows, but it sure makes it even more of a rare bird...The electronics work perfectly and the bass sounds/plays great.  It's strung up with a set of TI flats.   There is some checking on the bass and some dings here and there, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a bass coming up on its 40th birthday- considering it's age, it's in great shape.  Action is great and there are no signs of repairs (and none needed!).  The pictures represent the bass very well, though it should be noted that there is some cracking in the upper strap button (can't see it well in the pictures), though it still functions perfectly.  I just don't want any surprises for whomever wins the auction.  The bass will ship in a more recent Hofner made hardshell 500/1 case.  Shipping in the US is $50 UPS or FedEx, Canada $100 through the USPS (please note Canada will only insure up to $675 on items coming from the USPS, also, you are liable for customs/taxes Canada may or may not charge).  Outside of the US or Canada, we can probably work something out, but please email me prior to bidding!
