Description
1964 Fender P-bass This has been my main bass forever. I don't play out as much as I used to and this is just too much bass to have sitting around the house not getting gigged and recorded. The only things I did to this bass was to take the covers off, put straplocks on, and put a little extra foam under the pickups as the old foam was pretty well deteriorated. I pulled the covers and original strap buttons out of the case and installed them back on the bass as you can see in the pictures. The neck on this baby is smooth and played-in. It's straight as an arrow and I never need to adjust it. The frets are great; I've had the same dead flatwound strings on it for a few years now. The tuners turn quite smoothly, which isn't always the case on these old basses. The neck dates to August of 1964, so this is a pre-CBS instrument back from when Leo Fender still ran the show. The serial no. on the neckplate is L42329. The headstock has the transition logo, which Fender started using in mid-'64, I believe, and it has clay dot markers. I hated to unscrew the pickguard, but I figured potential buyers would want to see under the hood. The pickups are grey-bottoms, which Fender started using in mid-'64. These are my favorites...I much prefer them to the previous black-bottoms. I couldn't make out much of the stamps on the pickup bottoms due to the old foam being stuck on there. The pot codes are 304-6252 and 1376225, which date to 1962...I suppose Leo was using stuff up before the sale to CBS? Well, I kinda hate to see her go. Let me know if you have any other questions. The bass will ship in the hardshell case I've always had it in...black with orange interior. The hinges and locks on the case are rusted, but still completely functional and it does the job. I have sold other basses in the past, including a '66 CAR P-bass, so I know how to pack things well. Insurance is included in the shipping total. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Please enjoy the pictures and know that you're getting a real player! On May-11-08 at 16:09:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Use the FREE Counters 1 million sellers do - Vendio!
