Description
1962 SG Les Paul Standard with rare pearl inlaid ebony block tailpiece view all photos at the link below: http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk91/guitarman540/Les%20Paul%20SG/?albumview=slideshow Cosmetically: This collectable and highly coveted 46 year old guitar plays and sounds incredible! It has scuff marks and side wear but the cherry color hasn’t faded too much even though this gem has been played throughout the years. Most of the fading is on the back of the neck. Frets show wear but there is life left in them. Like most of the Les Paul SG’s of this era there is a neck crack at the base. It starts on the left cutaway and goes back behind the neck to the right cutaway. It is also visible from inside the neck pick-up block. This crack happened many many years ago and it is stable. The previous owner attached a half dollar coin to the vibrato tailpiece with what looks like a type of putty. The tailpiece is intact and will work once the coin is removed and a vibrato arm is added (I do not have the vibrato arm) Weight: 6.5 lbs Electronics: All pots and solders are original. There is one PAF and one Pat. number humbucker, covers never off. The only things on this guitar that are NOT original are the bridge (bridge posts ARE original), the switch tip (looks like it’s brass and it is also attached with putty) and of course the coin. There have been no new holes drilled or resized on this guitar. Comes with newer gigbag.
