Description Up for auction is a real 1959 Gold Anodized Fender Stratocaster Pickguard.The pickguard is not a reproduction or reissue, it is real and is dated 4/59 written with a pencil on a piece of masking tape on the back, its a bit yellowed and faded but could easily be read. The pickguard has natural relic from years of playing (it has been in use and not on a collector's guitar), some of the gold color is missing in several areas of the pickguard and it has scratches and dings. It is in great shape and is very RARE! fender only made these till May 59 as far as I know, it has the 8 hole screw pattern which was used until that year. This would be correct for 54-59 stratocasters with 8 screw pickguards and looks killer on white color guitars!  I have been asked if this pickguard has lacquer on top, yes it does, the lacquer is present but is very worn and there is not much of it left, only a very thin coat at some areas.
