My friend Vinnie liked it so much, that when he got a chance to trade his Tele (that had been tossed out a 4th floor window by the Boston Fire Dept. during a small fire) and some cash for another '58 strat, he went for it.This is the guitar (Vinnie's) that I have up for auction. First, the serial number on the neck plate is: 97281. That puts the body at 1963. The neck is definitely from 1958, as you can see from the picture. I have personal knowledge of this guitar dating back to 1970. It is exactly what it is:1958 Fender Strat Neck1963 Fender Strat BodyOriginal case (whether it's from '58 or '63, we have no idea... any thoughts??)Tuners replaced, no Fender logo, finish on the body was stripped at some point. One of the pots and some wire to the pot were replaced in the early 1970's. All the rest of the electronics are totally original.This is simply a great player's guitar. Hopefully, because it's not the pristine collectible that will end up in a humidor on Mars, it will end up owned by a player.Having said that, please, no crazy lowball offers. We have decent offers on the table from my community here in L.A.
