Description
1953 FENDER TELECASTER We are offering a 1953 Fender Telecaster that I recently purchased from the family of the original owner. Please check out the pics below and follow along as I give you a detailed description of this really cool Tele. Basically what we have here is an authentic complete 1953 black guard Fender Telecaster with an extra pickup and switch added to it. The pickup was added to the guitar by the owner in 1969 and happens to be a screaming original (and dated) 1966 Fender Stratocaster pickup. At first I thought I'd take this extra pickup and switch out of the guitar but when you hear it you will agree I made an interesting choice. The original Tele bridge pickup and the '66 Strat pickup side by side sounds like three Telecasters on steroids!!! I'm surprised no one has really attempted to produce this pickup idea commercially because it's a hell of an amazing sound. Of course one could take the '66 Strat pickup out and the wiring would be back to original specs without soldering anything. The tuners are all original '53 "no line" tuners except for one which is an older 50's single line tuner. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE, EVERY PART ON THIS GUITAR IS ORIGINAL FROM 1953 OTHER THAN THE ADDED PICKUP, SWITCH, ONE TUNER AND SWITCH TIP. The body shows signs of vintage wear as most older Teles do but is still in nice condition. The neck features the original nut and frets which have a lot of meat left on them. I would get these frets dressed if I were playing it on a regular basis but since they are the originals I figured the next owner might like to have them done to his or her taste. The pots, capacitor and the two Telecaster pickups are original as are their wiring. The neck pocket is dated 10-53 in red and is signed by "Baby". The neck is dated 10-53 as well and has that seriously vintage Tele contour we all salivate over. I found it surprising that that all the screws, hardware, bridge plate, bridge saddles and string tree are all in awesome condition and have little or no tarnish. The owner played this guitar regularly but actually kept it fairly clean over the years. The images speak for themselves. This Tele did not come with a case but I am supplying a Fender reissue poodle case from 2004 along with it. We have a serious 53 black guard Telecaster here regardless of the items mentioned above. NOTE: I took some of the images of the guitar with it resting on an old Fender tweed Strat case. The tweed case seen in the photos IS NOT part of this auction!!If you ever wanted a perfect 53 Tele and can't afford the $50,000, here's a chance to save a small fortune and have the next best thing. I'll add some more pics shortly. Call us anytime at 512-799-9788 for more info and more pics. Please check out our other eBay auctions for really cool stuff!
