Description
10 OLD VERTICAL GRAIN EAST INDIAN ROSEWOOD VENEER PIECES CIRCA 1980. 30" x 6" x .028 " or 860mm x 150mm x .7mm 1/4 SAWN, CLEAR, . THESE PIECES ARE TIGHT GRAIN, TYPICAL COLOR. ON THE END OF THE FLITCH IN ONE CORNER [2 INCH LONG X 1 INCH WIDE] IS SOME FIGURE THAT PROGRESSES THROUGH THE FLICH BECOMING A KNOT. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS RIGHT IN THE CORNER SO SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM FOR MOST PROJECTS. NOT PLANTATION GROWN. I HAVE MORE OF THIS AVAILABLE. I USED THESE FOR LAMINATED GUITAR SIDES KIND OF LIKE THE RAMIREZ 1A CLASSICS FROM THE 60'S. VERY NICE MATERIAL I was a professional acoustic guitarmaker for 27 years. Now retired, I am selling off my old stock of tonewoods which are limited in quantity. Included in my auctions will be various kinds of rosewoods, spruces, cedar, and ebony, all hand selected before 1994. Some of it is as old as 1950, but all has been stored in my shop at 50% relative humidity. I recommend allowing it to acclimatize to your environment for a month before using it. So why does old guitar wood tend to make better sounding instruments? What gives old guitars (even electrics) that ‘magic’ sound? These are difficult questions to answer, particularly since we all know how well played (and loved) instruments tend to sound better as well. Technically we do know that the resins in wood crystallize slowly over time, rendering it more brittle, and giving it a more glass-like tonality. In fact, it was that clear, sustaining glass-like sound quality I looked for when choosing tonewood. Visually, some of this lumber appears a bit rough, attesting to its age, but when you run it through your planer all of the chalk marks and oxidation will end up in the sawdust pile, revealing the fresh wood beneath. I guarantee satisfaction, or your money back, but the buyer must pay for return shipping, with the item unscathed and undamaged. ‘
