It is 16 & 1/2" wide and 8 & 1/2" deep.            Pulling down the twin zippers behind the front pouch reveals an extremely valuable feature, a large accessories compartment with a generous assortment of pockets and pouches for storing the tools of the trade.                                                     From front to back you have:                                                       a 16" x 7" zippered pouch with see-through webbed covering.    a zippered "reed tool pouch" with see-through webbed top.  a business card holder divided into two separate areas.  a 4 & 3/4" x 2" gusseted pocket with Velcro closure flap. a key clip two large and deep 6 wide" x 5 & 1/2" deep gusseted pockets with Velcro closure flaps. pen & pencil holders a 16 & 1/2" x 11 gusseted pocket" for storing sheet music, music folders and large, flat accessories.        Here's just one way to load the accessories compartment. One of the things we like most about this bag is how you can open this area as seen above, put your Oboe Carry-All on the floor beside your chair while rehearsing or performing, and have instant access to the items which are all too often vital to great oboe playing. The large capacity of this area allows large capacity reed cases and more accessories in general. Note how a 2 foot long pheasant feather and our 9 & 1/2" tall, 11" wide BG Portable English Horn Stand fit easily into the rear pocket. A clip keeps up with your keys for you (orange arrow) and a large, zippered "reed tool" pouch (blue arrow) with see-through top makes quick work of moving your favorite reed tools back and forth between your bag and your reed desk.   An important feature of this bag, and perhaps the criteria most commonly overlooked when auditioning oboe bags, is the manner in which it sits upright when fully loaded with accessories, even with the accessories compartment flap in the down position. Many would-be oboe carry-alls fall flat on their faces in this respect. Literally! This is the oboe compartment of the Tombeau Oboe Carry-All. This compartment is 17" wide and 14" deep, and storing your single or double oboe case with case cover is only the beginning of its capabilities. (not wide enough for English horn or oboe/English horn combination cases) In the photo above, a single oboe case in its case cover and a thermos are sitting atop one of our (2" thick) Music Stand Accessory Shelves (not visible in photo). Even with these three items in place, an area 14 & 1/2" wide and 4" deep is available for other items. Velcro straps (brown arrows) can be used to secure the contents, and a padded Velcro and nylon moveable divider (blue arrow) can be used to keep items from "fraternizing". Please note that this case is not wide enough for English horn or oboe/English horn combination cases. With its multiple layers of leather and lining, Tombeau provides superior protection from extremes in and rapid changes of temperature.                                            The Music Library "Large capacity" is an inadequate description of Tombeau's accordion-style sheet music storage area, located on the bag's back side. Each of its three sections can hold music pages or books up to 17" tall and 12 & 3/4" wide. It the photo above, the bag is shown holding a Vade-Mecum of the Oboist, a Barret Method Book, a 14" tall, 12 & 3/4" wide hard-bound orchestra folder, and more. It will easily zip shut with these contents.                                                                                                         The brushed nickel zippers on the oboe compartment will accept a padlock (not included), and the leather and nylon handles are comfortable for any size hand.   A strong nylon strap slips over the handle of your wheeled luggage for burden-free transport when traveling (yellow arrow).  The removable, adjustable-length shoulder strap is heavily padded for comfort. It is also contoured and is covered on the underside with suede, so as to stay put on your shoulder.
